if you haven't seen sacha baron cohen's borat character then you might not get what's happening - that article doesn't describe it accurately at all.

he goes into somewhere acting like he's an eastern-european making tv for an eastern-european channel. most of the comedy comes from peoples fear of insulting him as a foreigner while he acts like as much of an offensive dickhead as he can.

in the states the routine's a little different because he doesn't have much trouble finding people that completely agree with him.
