There is also Protocol version 43. I am sure there are others too. I am just beginning to find them out.
Protocol version 66
Protocol version 66
What does this mean and why can't I join a game that uses it?

The OP should get the 1.16n and the 1.30 PRs if he wants to play at servers with protocol 43 and 66. Get them here.

also if you dont have OSP get it here - http://www.orangesmoothie.com/
And if you want to go back to a server that runs an older version then Download Dr. Watson's PR Switcher: http://phair.csh.rit.edu/~drwatson/q3a/drwpr.html
(It will essentially, let you via a prompt change to any point release from the past and change back to the latest one whenever you feel like it).
Just incase you dont know how to use it:
Extract it to your main Quake 3 directory, if you used the default it would be: C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena
Inside you will find a file called: drwpr.bat
Double-click to run it, and you will get an ms-dos type window, you press the number that you want to change to the point release, and it will do it's thing

Or they play using a Dreamcast, or don't like Punkbuster, or prefer the physics of the earlier versions, or have mods that haven't been ported to 1.32
