I get imported beans and grind them at home myself every morning. Colombian, Jamaican... There is good coffee to be had in stores here. You must have been trying to buy it at mcdonalds or a gas station.
edit: If you've ever even been here and bought coffee.

Hey, I got one of those for a Christmas present. How in hell do you use it? :icon19:Grudge wrote:That's what I'm trying to say. You have to buy imported beans and make it yourself.
Btw, I've got a $25 mokamachine like this:
I'm sure I get better coffee out of it than you get out of your $250 machine, goof.
Seriously, it was in a basket with no instructions. I thought the thing was just a percolator until I saw the pressure valve in the side. I haven't tried it yet -- what gives?
sounds like the french press i had; never figured out how the fuck it worked... gave it away.R00k wrote:Hey, I got one of those for a Christmas present. How in hell do you use it? :icon19:Grudge wrote:That's what I'm trying to say. You have to buy imported beans and make it yourself.

Brewing:
Fill the bottom with good fresh water up to the level of the valve or a little over it.
Fill the filterbasket with coffee. The grind should be fine, but not powdery, about the same as for a fine filter drip. Do not pack the coffee or tamp it down. As the coffee becomes wet, it wants to expand which effectively tamps itself... (Some units come with an extra filterdisc. This is supposed to allow you to brew a 1/2 batch by filling the filterbasket halfway or so, putting the disc on top of it, then assembling as normal and brewing. I find this isn’t as good as brewing a full batch).a
Drop the filterbasket into the bottom, assemble the top, put the coffee maker on a medium heat
Brewing should take 5 minutes. If it takes longer, try raising the heat a bit next time. Brewing has completed when all the water has been percolated into the top
Enjoy!

I just retired my Percolator :icon27:
after 4 years of solid service, and got a Coffee/espresso combo
Making capuchino/Latte's are much easier for me when I'm in a rush. I can also do a double shot or even 4 shots depending on how awake I want to be.
My machine however is not as spaceage as yours, but it gets the job done for under $100.00.
I still miss my percolator, we used it for every LAN party back in the day
