Batman Begins
it's a good movie but not THAT good.
The flashbacks are top-notch, all of the good guys (bale, holmes, freeman, caine, oldman) pull off their roles well, plus there's a small role for Rutger Hauer, who's now been in both the frank miller-inspired comic book adaptations (this + Sin City) -- but the bad guys suck.
EDITED BECAUSE IT'S A SPOILER
It's sad to see something that starts off so well trail off into something closer to mediocre, but this is still a film well worth seeing because it offers a fresh, dark look at batman and has an excellent cast.
The dialogue, surprisingly, is excellent, although i got sick of characters glibly parroting lines back to each other in their moments of triumph -- "it's really quite technical, i wouldn't worry about it" followed by "didn't you get the memo?" was just pathetic.
The only other thing i want to say is that it has an excellent little teaser at the very end which will remind Thomas Harris/Hannibal Lecter fans of the ending to the film version of Red Dragon. (At the Toronto premiere, it got more applause than the start of the credits did.)

It's certainly not Year One, if that's what you're thinking.

Well, I saw it tonight and it is the best Batman movie by far. Im surprised no one mentioned Liam Neeson's performance as Ra's al-Guhl, reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn... easily the coolest Batman villain because he's the only one Batman didn't create through his vigilantism and he was well chosen as the villain to begin Batman's career.
