Need a photoshop tip (basic?)

Post by Chupacabra »

I'm brand new to photoshop. And while I'm not exactly trying to learn it just now (even though I probably should) I want to use it to help out wherever needbe in this thing I'm doing.

Basically, how do I make everything in this image transparent except for the yellow and orange parts (or whatever colors I choose)?

Thanks in advance :)

A few ways to do it but none are easy, I suggest you read some tutorials and try it yourself.

One way would be to use the Lasso tool, but that would take a long time.

This looks bad but took me less then a minute to make, I basicly made it indexed colored with only 8 colors then I made the background color transparent.

use the magic wand to create a seperate layer for the strokes, and then lower the opacity.

yeah there are a couple of ways. personally i'd mask it off and go from there.

the easiest way but probably not the cleanest way would be to make a duplicate layer of the image. then erase everything from the top layer that will eventually be transparent. then on the bottom layer just change the transparency.
