No chat or other messages displaying in-game

While playing i have to go into console to see any chat or any other types of messages. they don't display at all like they used to on the upper left. What can i do to fix this, it's rather annoying?

compare your chat settings to mine

seta cg_teamChatTime "3000"
seta cg_teamChatHeight "0"
seta cg_teamChatsOnly "0"
seta cg_noVoiceChats "0"
seta cg_noVoiceText "0"
seta cg_nochatbeep "0"
seta ch_FilterLocationsTeamchat "0"
seta ch_fragMessage "1"
seta cf_Fragmsg "16x16"
seta cf_Teamchat "8x12"
seta ch_TeamchatOnly "0"

or create /edit autoexec.cfg and place these commands inside.
some of these commands may apply only to the mod OSP

that didn't do anything : (
i don't even get a message if i'm messing around and put noclip or godmode or whatever. But even with the commands u gave me i don't even get team chat or anything still. thanks anyway though

\cl_noprint 0

should do it.

that's not it, cl_noprint is always 0
i get the messages if i bring down the console, thing is they don't show up when the console isn't brought down.

it was -5, i reset it to 3, thanks a lot u did it!
