Anyone have the HDTV Wonder?

Post by rep »

I'm probably going to buy it, but I was just wondering if it gets 1080p?

Also, the reviews are a little scarce, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it records analog and digital cable SDTV as well. I know it tunes SDTV, and it would be stupid for it to record HDTV but not SDTV, but you never know...

Any other HD tuners out there that are worth a damn? I hear you need an ATi video card to run the HDTV Wonder properly, but that's no big deal. I want to record HDTV and nVidia doesn't have this on their roadmap, so I'll have to buy the HDTV Wonder ($140) and whatever 9600 or 9800 is the cheapest ($100 probably) That's still cheaper than buying an HDTV tuner ($300) and I can record and archive everything with this.

And btw, No you DO NOT need a ATI Card, all you need is a DX9 Supported videocard ( see Windows media Center eddition 2005's videocard support list )

but Most of the Truble Free people are infact using the ATI branded Cards, wile there are tons of people that are using Nvidia Cards.

persionally, i am running a media Center '05 machine, with the following Spec's

intel p4.1.8A @ 2.8
512 pc-3200
MSI Geforce 5200 AGP
ATI Theater 550 PRO

and i am getting truble free operation..

Btw, before you ask, the reason why i DO NOT have this card is simply because Canada is not on the Offical HDTV supported list yet, ( simpoly becuase there is not enough Channels being sent out Via Free to air )

Anyway, that is the card to get, check out some of the reviews.

Some review I read (Tom's Hardware, and I know Tom is a liar and 100% of his reviews are fed to him by the corporation written on dollar bills) said that it didn't work well with the nVidia card they tested it with.

No, No, i do admit that Toms can be bias.. BUT! that is infact the truth, some Cards it does not agree with....

check out Ati's HDTV Forum. ( there are a few of them around, and ATI Rep's are on them ) and it will all be explained.
