installed a hard drive but I can't see it
I've bought a 200gig maxtor 16mb cache ata/133 hdd (6L200R0) and windows sees it, I can see it in the device manager, but I can't see or use it in the "my computer" window. wtf?
Check in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management.
Does the hard drive appear there? Does it report that it is working and formatted properly?
Personally though, I don't like Maxtor drives... just my opinion through people telling me horror stories about their failure rate. I have never owned one so don't take my word for it. I like Seagate drives.

Well I've worked with a good number of Maxtors and they have not failed me. Read this. Read my post in that of all the HDDs I've worked with. Once you go into the Disk Management and format the drive it will appear in My Computer. You can also acess the Disk Management by right-clicking My Computer> Manage> Disk Management. You can use a program my Partition Magic if you want.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.
