I see that some laptops have a Radeon 9600 but only 32mb of video ram. What is that good for? Q3? Or Farcry and up?
example:
Compaq NC6000
Centrino 1,6 ghz
256 ram
40 Gig HD
cdrw/dvd Combo
Ati radeon 9600 32 meg

256MB of RAM is pitiful. At least 512, 1GB recommended for FarCry.
Suggesting that you get more RAM, you should be able to play Q3, but not as well as you are probably used to on a modern desktop computer.
And why on earth would you want to play games on a laptop?

Doubtful. The video card is all but useless on that thing.ToxicBug wrote:Well, I have a radeon 9000 pro 128mb with a 2000+ athlon xp (desktop) and I get 173fps in q3. I was wondering if I could get similar results with a laptop which has a mobility 9000 but with 32mb. It has a much faster CPU though.
I've got a Siemens Fujitsu Amilo 3438 Laptop with 1,8 GHz Centrino, 1 Gig RAM and a GeForce6800 GO 256 video card. It runs FarCry and GTA SA on highest settings absolutely smooth (but have a AA problem withGTA, maybe a driver problem). Didn't try D3 yet. It set me back about €1600,-.
