Adobe Premiere, and DIVX wont mix!!!

Post by -SKID- »

I recently installed Premiere again to work on a still montage I was working on about a year ago. At that time, I had the DIVX codec installed, and every movie I exported in premiere with DIVX worked fine. NOW I hear that Divx 6 doesnt work with Premiere, and I agree, the codec doesnt show up in the compressor window in premiere. So I just installed an old one 5.03 I export the movie, and when I attempt to play it in WMP it crashes. So I try and play it in DIVX Player, and the sound starts for a second, and then nothing. No video, no sound. So I try it in VLC, and I get the sound, but no video. So getting frustrated, I installed various different versions of the Divx Player, and Codec. So far with version 5.21 the movie plays in WMP, but with graphic problems. But it STILL wont play in DIVX player, or VLC. WTF is going on here. WHY wont a divx compressed movie play in ****ing Divx player, or even VLC wich plays anything for that matter. Ive tried many different settings in the codec window, and still no fix. I had none of these problems a year ago, and I know I was using the same version of the Divx Player, and Codec a year ago that Im trying now. Could it be anything with Windows SP2? I dont think that was around then. Please help me before I kill anything that moves. :icon30:

First of all, stop installing 800 versions of the same goddamn codec. That will solve many problems. Next, use something other than premiere or a different format other than divx, because it seems that having 6 installed, regardless if you removed it, it is having adverse effects with exporting the videos in that format.

I am sure regardless if you removed the 6 code, which you didnt actually mention doing, it would still linger around and cause undesired affects. I have no idea if there is a divx codec remover for windows, similar to the nvidia driver remover, but perhaps you should search for that.

It was only like 3 or 4 versions :p, I uninstalled each one every time. I searched for a codec uninstaller, but found nothing. What other progams can read Premiere saved projects and them compile them outside of premiere? But I doubt this will fix the problem since even when it does compile, the damn thing wont play in DIVX, VLC, and mostly in WMP. :(

We all know that uninstalling things in windows doesnt mean they are fully uninstalled.
