LAN conection unplugged

I'm getting this error popping up over my system tray very frequently. I was using my onboard lan due to a previous problem with my PCI nic, but when the errors started showing up I switched it back.
Prior to the switch, Event Viewer was telling me the following:

The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{D1E659EC-0CE5-4CB1-B33E-920C1AB95618} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.

Since I've switched to the NIC, I don't see that in Event Viewer anymore, but I'm still getting the Unplugged error. It's really pissing me off because I keep getting disconnected from BF2 and BF:V servers.

Sounds like you have a dodgy network connection I.E. a bad wire.

If there's any wireless in the link, it could be that as well.

It's a wireless router, but this problem is on a wired connection. I tried switching router ports with no luck. I've just done a firmware update, we'll see what that gets me.

Dlink perhaps? (router that is)

Another possibility is that the router is rebooting itself. Are you in a position to be able to watch the router while using the PC? When you're disconnected, look for the light going out.

Even better, after a disconnect open the router's configuration page and check the 'uptime' value. That should tell you if the link really did die.

If it did, upgrade the routers firmware and if that doesn't work, either live with it or buy a new model.

If it's not this and it's not the wire, I'm stumped.

this is why i inquired whether it's a Dlink or not. known for random rebooting issues.

Yeah, it's a D-Link DI-624. The firmware upgrade seems to have done the trick. I just played BF2 for about 2 hours with no troubles.

I was able to play it because I broke down and bought another Gig of RAM. :icon25:

actually, i had to back mine out of the latest firmware because it still did that after awhile. those pieces of crap overheat. hopefully you'll fare better, but this is pretty well documented with this model. :/
