It's been a while since I've seen either movie, but I believe in Deep Impact, the astronauts plant the bombs on the comet, but rather than destroying the comet as intended, it instead breaks it into two fragments. The smaller fragment hits the earth and does quite a bit of damage. The astronauts then decide to engage in a suicide mission to try and destroy the remaining fragment of the comet and are successful.

You were confusing me with the space shuttle coming back to earth and the deep impact mission we had lately.

I saw that movie with Bruce Willis, Great one to me.
I like movie of that type that can occur in the real life.

The astronauts die. A lot of people here dies, cause a part of it hits or something. I don't recall exactly. But I liked this better than Armageddon, though it was ok to. Steve Buscemi is cool riding the warhead =)
