Trent Reznor was gonna do sound fx for d3? didn't know that. would have improved the game a billion %. his soundtrack for classic quake was awesome, one of the best
Trents soundpack was the biggest problem with retail Doom 3. Anybody who has played the leak will tel lyou jsut how good the sounds were. Everything had punch, everything sounded top notch, impressive.
The commandos got the biggest shaft. Now they jsut grunt about the palce. Before, they used to radio to a higher being, taunting the player. The sounds they would make were bloody scarey, "I SMELL FEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAR!"

I can still play q3 now, it doesn't look fresh enough..
Why bring back jump pads!! Q2 had no jump pads..
It looks just like q3.. pfft it's crap
And? They never wanted Q2 gameplay anywhere in Q4. Singleplayer is picking up the story where Q2 left off. In multiplayer they have always said they wanted the Q3 feeling in it since that was such a big success.

to this day I get all misty and nostalgic remembering the granulated rocket jumps and how my heart would lob itself joyfully into my throat when the quad rune would roll up in my path.
but I think by faster than q3 you mean on a LAN. either that or you have seriously taken too many shots to the head in recent weeks. Q3's UDP connection laughs long and hard as it shits all over the old Q1 freeze-whoring TCP streams.
Sometimes I wonder if comparing games to Q3 is even fair. I mean, half the things that made it such a completely amazing game, seem to have been complete mistakes on the part of the dev team. It's the things like strafe jumping, weapon balance/imbalance, the way maps flow... I know that id wasn't honing the game down to those specific elements up until release. They all just happened to fall perfectly into place to make a wonderful game.

Don't care. I will still buy it and still have fun with it regardless. I play all sorts of games and my is not so narrow minded that I have to play a certain type of game to have fun, either it be the title, who it was made by or the community that the game belongs too.
I try to keep an open mind and if it's fun then good. But I'm not going to sit around here and say the only game that was ever worth a damn was Q3 and that's the only game I will ever play ever then knock every game that comes out and say it's total crap because it's really not.

I agree on that. And when Q3 first came out a lot of those who played Q2 before didn't like it cause it was too focused on graphics and what not and it didn't have strafejumping etc.. But it did and it was faster than they expected, just needed to learn the strafejumping properly. When I play Q2 now I get so much speed it's insane, and it's all Q3's fault. I'm sure Q4 is gonna be pretty fast also.

That's ma boy!!
Another point about this....the imbalances FORCE people to develop serious skill with the second tier weapons (in TDM certainly). Just watch some of the old Deathrow vs Clan 9 TDM matches.
