cpu not polling

Post by neh »

just put an athlon64 3700 in to replace my 3000 - so it was fine for a bit but kept cutting out with a cpu temp warning in the bios star up (when restarting) ..

just put a new (decent) heatsink and fan on it to replace the amd pb one - but now my system wont start - cpu doesnt seem to be polling - just a dead screen

any one got any bright ideas that may help - i've already tried clearing my cmos - no joy ..

any help greatly appreciated

Honestly? Sounds like you might have given a component a dose of static. Failing that, your heatsink hasn't been applied properly and the CPU isn't getting rid of its heat.

Also check loose ram sticks or other components?

BTW I think you mean POSTing
