just watched some q4 DM footage.
this really is just another skin over Q3 isnt it? I mean, Q3 lacked some HUD detail, and they really didnt bother to do anything about it here. and the same announcer? fuck, that was another low point of Q3.. random id employee's voice pitched down. great for a test build, but very cheap for a retail game.

But the strafing isn't that fast when looking the CTF demo.
That's kinda sucky :/

Also the difference between the hyperblaster and nailgun is way different in combat. You would think the nailgun is just another machine gun at first glance, but the most effective way to use it is to aim at the feet like the rocket launcher. The nailguns rate of fire, and nail speed is a bit too slow to hit a quick moving opponent, but it's splash damage is pretty massive. you can kind of juggle people with it. the hyperblaster is the one that you want to track opponents with and hit them dead on because of it's rate of fire and quick moving bullets.

All you do is moan about games, I rarely ever see you say anything positive. And what was wrong with the Q3 announcer? Nothing at all. You're just a born moaner! :icon25:

Have you got a copy of quake 4? You seem to know it rather well. :icon6:

Yes, but your detailed descriptions of things in the game sound as though you've actually had first hand experience playing it. :icon6:

Nails look like very small rockets, they may be explosive flechettes or something, which would explain the splash damage.

The moves are not slow. The players you can see in most videos are. They're from the big batch of noobs at the event who only run straight and jump once in a while because everyone does it so it must be a good idea.

More proper moving around and nail climbing :

From that video you can tell you don't cast a stencil shadow like all the other players, you even have a tiny blob shadow under your feet :)

the 3 things about q3 that i despise, bob and roll (easily removed), the stupid blood splatter and screen shake (gone in osp) and the GIGANTIC 'you fragged' message that stays up for 5 million seconds (again sorted in osp). hope this is as moddable in q4.

Noo. The announcer is the coolest voice ever. Better than any other game I've played. Even G-Man (not that he's an announcer, but it's cool). I'm glad I'll be hearing it more. There is no annoncer quite like the one in Q3, and now it seems, Q4 too.
