was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to export brushes from Radiant? ...to an .ase or some other basic format

No, it just separates a model from void. Also, when converting patches you can use -subdivisions switch.

I use Doomedit for that. Caulk everything; ditch entities and patches; save and open in doomedit; select everything and then selection->export->to OBJ.
Depending on what you want to use it for, OBJ format might be a bit more import-friendly than ASE. It is for me, anyway.
