Awesome game. I was pretty much a n00b back in the Q2 days but it brings back lots of memories, and now I'm a bit suprised how fast the game actually is.

The guy that made the video shared the paks upon request, so if anyone wants to try Q2 with the 'pro' settings like in the video:

I dunno - thought it sucked. Perhaps it was my slow vid card, but the sound was a good 7-10 seconds out of sync with the video, so I got to hear what was happening before it showed up.
The framerate was horrible, and there was weird warping everytime the player went back across rotating bridge from mega.
The special effects tended to distract - perhaps coz i've never seen them before.
Commentating was ridiculously overblown - there's no need to fill each moment with talk - some nice pauses to appreciate the action and strategy for ourselves woulda been nice.

Julz I will give your demo a spin.
You are probably correct in saying something is not up to snuff with your pc, that movie should play without any pauses and the sound is perfectly synced. Some people at esreality have commented how the video wasn't that impressive simply becase purry dominates the entire thing, you are essentially watching a one man show. While it would be nice if the skill levels where closely related I thought the dominance and map control was amazing. I think it was fast too, Q2 sort of reminds me of cpma now I dunno why, it dosen't quite have the air control.

Julz, first I want to say I have nothing but
However... man, are you sure you posted the right demo? Where you kidding around? Drunk? I didn't know what to think. First you where preoccupied with jumping around, and throwing nades. You made some good double-jumps and circle jumps, but other than that, no other strafe techniques. I suppose D was good, you managed to keep away. But offense? Why didn't you chase him for the kill? Too many shots spammed on walls. Why didn't either one of you use the rail?!?!?
Sorry man, I wasn't impressed tbh... hope ya don't get too upset. :icon32:

I used to use nades a lot in quake2 - quite deadly if used smartly. Strafe techniques hadn't been refined in that day - i didn't learn to strafe jump properly until quake3. You gotta remember, this was 6 years back or so.dzjepp wrote:Julz, first I want to say I have nothing but

chase for kill? wtf did you not catch the last minute?
remer and I had been playing for many months back and forth - i prefered thinking of our games a dances rather than fights
I'll see if i can dig up a demo of me that's something more up your alley.
Does anyone know if this is hosted anywhere else (link expired)? Does Gandalf4i have a website? I can't find anything except his username in dozens of swedish forums...dzjepp wrote:The guy that made the video shared the paks upon request, so if anyone wants to try Q2 with the 'pro' settings like in the video:
