I have a DVD, which I bought, and want to make a copy of it to preserve the original.
When I go to copy it says it has an error and cannot cannot continue. It says "failed to read from the file VTS_01_0.VOB"
This is using Nero and the recode feature because the DVD is too large and the recode usually allows for this.
Any help is appreciated

There used to be a program called DeCSS, then it was decided that under American law this program (and the descrambling code) was illegal.
Finding it on the web is still possible, and people have been mocking the ruling by posting the DeCSS code in tons of places, making it an unenforceable law. For example, the De-CSS code has been used to poison some DNS Caches on the internet. To my knowledge, you can get the source .c file from most DNS servers on the web if you know the right command.
After reading around for a while, it seems the DeCSS code is not illegal, currently. There may be outstanding lawsuits, but I can't find a ruling that hasn't been overturned.
