I'm afraid the performance of your map is quite bad. :( My fps drops to 60 at some places and is ~75 in many areas; with a Radeon 9800 Pro, XP1700+ and 512 MB ram (this beats your recommended system specs). Imho 125 or perhaps 100 FPS is as low as the frame rate should be allowed to get in a map that is made for play and that's not just a showpiece.

I tested your RC1 on the same system except with a GF4 Ti4200, but i don't remember such heavy performance problems...

That square view portal screen seems 'buggy' too. Often the upper half (sometimes the entire screen) only displays the skybox. It makes my fps drop from 125 to ~70 (when i toggle r_fastsky).

If you want your map to be playable for people that don't have an Athlon 64 and a 6600GT or X800, you'll have to go back to radiant...

Sounds like something else is wrong with your system.. I had it tested by quite a LOT of people and no one mentioned any problems with the view screen or performance problems. I've personally tested the map on 4 different computers, all are pretty common configurations. Also I had a playtest group do a live playtest about 6 players on a server and performance was fine for everyone. It was also tested by about 20+ people on Shacknews.com on a wide range of configurations.

My friend tested it on his XP1800+, 768mb RAM, ATI 9800 All-In-Wonder and reported no visual problems or performance problems. He said it hovered around 90-120fps on high detail at 1280x1024. As your systems are pretty simular you might want to check your drivers, maybe you need to update them. Did you leave on FSAA or AF?? As those can make for a big performance drop.

Hopefully you can fix your problem with performance, but I'm not going to redesign the map. At this point it would take way to much time and effort to do anything that would greatly reduce the r_speeds in the map. Anyway your the first person to report problems with performance, so I'm guessing something on your end. As that system should be more than fine to run it at a decent performance level.

Hmm, odd. I'll see if can do something about it and i'll test the map on another pc meanwhile.

You'll agree that correspondence, for all to see, is more appreciated on a public forum.

I do agree.. but I appreciate him asking me first in private.

o'dium wanted to do a port of this map to the Quake 2 Evolution engine, I agreed and gave him the sources to the map. Will be cool to see what he comes up with.
