So, the Doom movie

Post by DiscoDave »

It’s not set on Mars
There are no space marines
There is no UAC
BFG renamed to "Bio Force Gun"
Instead of space marines there are Special ops
Nothing is related to hell, its just about a virus leak because hell is considered too controversial even though Satanism is a religion, surely that’s discrimination - what’s to say what is a bad and a good religion?

"When a Special Ops squadron answers a distress call from a science lab on the planet Olduvai, " :dork:

They're aiming it to be a PG 13!!!
The director is the same guy who done such "classics" as:

Speed
Species
Dante's Peak

A friend of mine sent me a letter someone wrote which explains pretty much everything:

Opinions anyone?

part of it said to be filmed in first person. It'll most likely suck, but it was 'doom'ed from the start..

Satanism doesn't actually have much to do with satan or anti-christianity. Plus it's not like they havent addressed religious things in film before, look at se7en.

I'm not going to watch this film out of principal, it's going to be resident evil all over again.

Well if they change the story line then it can't be called DOOM now can it?

your friend's letter is also full of grammatical error, not to mention he sounds like a whining 10 year old.

Well if the story don't follow the original DOOM story in the game then I'm not going to go watch it. It would be just some Hollywood made up version.

The guy was just making that letter, it was a reply to when the director of the movie addressed doom fans worldwide about their concerns back in December 2004.

I do realise that satanism isn't what people think it is but im just stating a point that about how much religion has a influence on movies and how people seem to think that anyone following any form of religion such as the church of satan is automaticly a evil person etc.

Sure it did, you actually had to follow what was going on.

If that's what it's going to be like, I won't watch it.

Indeed. It sounds rather crappy.
Wasnt there another movie based on a game where they changed alot of things?

first off, read my post better, i said "A friend of mine sent me a letter someone wrote which explains pretty much everything: "

secondly, the letter isn't bad, in terms of grammar (or what you should be really looking at - the points put across)

it might sound a bit whiny but thats simply because hes an angry Doom fan. Stop picking out the small details and look at it as a whole.

True...

But there was one in particular which struck a cord with me, and I cant remember what it was or the name. Only that it was supposed to be really good and turned out to be really shitty...

I must be thinking of a game, not a film.

It'd be great if they decided that after changing the entire story and everything else, they would change the title as well.

"The movie, and all future games, will not longer be called 'Doom'. Instead, the franchise will be renamed to 'Boom', because that title better reflects the general course of action and is less controversial."

They read Masters of Doom and used the fact that Carmack can't hold his liquor to their advantage.

I would watch it as it is described, since it might still be an entertaining action movie, but since they're aiming for PG-13, FUCK THAT!
