Game crashes

It seems my PC has been throwing a lot of shit at me recently...

Anyway, in the games i usually play (Dawn of War, Dungeon Siege 2, Counter strike etc) They all crash to desktop and I cant see whats wrong.

All my drivers are up to date, including BIOS.

What i've tried:

Ran the latest version of memetest+ for 9 hours, no problem
Downloaded and Ran the ATI tool to check for artifacts, none,
Run Hard drive diagnostics which have reported no problems
Tried using the omega drivers
Tried re-installing all my drivers.

Im at the point where I dont know what to do next. Does anyone have any ideas?

Format. Install fresh. If things still go sour, then a piece of hardware is definately crapping out on you.

I apologise, i forgot to mention I am on a fresh install of a legit copy of winxp sp2.

is an idle cpu temp of 54oc very bad?

It's pretty high, yes. An idle CPU should hover around 35-40 C.
