dual channel ddr question

Post by Scarface »

For dual chan ddr to work, do you actually need dual channel ddr ram? Or will 2 matched dimms work the same?

Two matched sticks will work just as well.

Assuming the ram on them is the same yes, Well, itll work if the timings are the same too, its just BEST to get real matched ram. :icon32:
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Like I said, If the sticks are the same type and timings (eg matched) they work just as well as the dual channel kits that cost more cash. The only difference with the actual dual channel kits is that they are from the same batch at the manufacturer.

Indeed, and therefore only interesting if you plan on overclocking. Otherwise you get one stick potentially holding back the other.
