agp vs pci

Post by S@M »

Is agp on the way out, if building a complete new system, is pci the way to go?

I assume you mean pci-x, and for an entirely new system you definately want it over AGP because AGP is dying and all the better chipsets don't carry it anymore

PCI only... suck it down

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

thanks both, what do you think of this for a mid range system?
AMD A64 3500+ cpu
Asus a8N-SLi premium mobo
ASUS nVIDIA GeFORCE 6600GT 128MB TV-OUT DV-I PCI EXPRESS

have I got the right stuff for pci? I'll go the 7800gt if I can find one in my price range in australia
I cant find a good online source of OCZ ram in aust yet, still looking but I hear its better than corsair for clocking - is that right?

edit: 3200 or 4000 for the ram? Is 3200 still standard, or is 4000 where its at?

There's nothing wrong with the 6600, especially the GT.

You can get an SLi model if you're worried about future proofing.

I assume you mean PCI-Express. PCI-X is a different technology.

The 6600GT is okay, but you could buy a Sapphire X800GTO for $200-220 and it unlocks and overclocks to X850XTPE speeds. That's a $450 card.

Awesome product with limited availability. Newegg has it in stock for $230 here:
