a while back there was a way to ugrpade the WRT54G router for extended wireless range. back then I lived in 1 room and didn't really need it, but since I've moved I am crippled by the limited range of this wireless router.
I think there was a feature on techTV or someting. does anyone have or know where I can d-load the upgrade?
thanks in advance.

not sure what you mean? but I know that with the linksys firmware you cannot change the power output. and others you can. I was wonering what the wise posters of Q3W tried tested and recomended.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:um. hack or not?
on that note remember comparitivly I am only moderatly computer literate. In other words I need something "brain dead simple" :icon29: thanks again

well, by hack i mean custom firmware. you can make that thing a PBX system if so inclined. that model has quite a few hacks going for it.
example
but, you say you're moderately computer literate, so i would only recommend official firmware. i didn't peruse Linksys's site for your answer (figured you already did). amidy might have the easiest, but not free, solution.

the code in the link you posted was way above me
The http://www.hyperwrt.org/ firmware was about as simple as it gets. and just what I was looking for.
too many people refer "hack" as something illegal
and I have looked at those antenna and wondered if they actually worked, but they cost more then some routers.
Thanks for your replies!
and I wish the admins would move tech questions from gd to t&t to generate more traffic. as someone said "I didn't know T&T still existed" :icon27:

yeah, the word "hack" is often generalized as illegal behavior. shame really. glad you found something.RLucky82 wrote::icon31:
