Game is crashing from punkBuster! wtf
OK, every time I install "pbsvnew.dll" It begins to boot up to a gray screen, then crashes.
Any one know what i might be able to do, I need Pb because no servers will allow me in with out it

SHock:
First, try deleting the \pb\ folder, and that DLL, and then re-installing punkbuster (it's part of the 1.32 patch so just install that patch over the top again).
If that doesn't fix it, try the below:
1. Locate your Quake 3 folder (should be c:\program files\quake iii arena\)
2. Delete everything in the folder except for quake3.exe and the \baseq3\ folder
3. Enter the \baseq3 folder and delete everything except files that end in .CFG and .PK3
4. Install 1.32 again
If that *still* doesn't fix it then.. are you sure your firewall is configured correctly to allow Q3 traffic? Lockups at the start used to mean a firewall blocking traffic but I was fairly sure that became obsolete with 1.32.

this seems to be the only game that does it with PB. But I did all of what you guys said, but my problem is now that no servers let me stay, I get kicked with this message -
"You have been kicked via punkbuster this PBserver requires (A1353 c1.206) error Loading Pbag."
I have port forwarding allowed for this game and it wont auto update.

so why dont you just manually update it ? :icon27:SHockTheMonkey wrote:this seems to be the only game that does it with PB. But I did all of what you guys said, but my problem is now that no servers let me stay, I get kicked with this message -

That's alright, at least the game is loading now.SHockTheMonkey wrote:this seems to be the only game that does it with PB. But I did all of what you guys said, but my problem is now that no servers let me stay, I get kicked with this message -

Read this page: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=updatepb.php
The utility 'pbweb' should update the game for you (and I find once it's updated once, it updates itself from that point on). Just drop pbweb.exe into the pb folder and run it.

Did the PBWEB thing long ago, I still get that pb error message I wrote out before.
I'll keep messin with it. It's strange, I think it could have something to do with my router, but In my router setting on "port forwarding," It has an option for Quake 3 already in there for me, I selected that, does Pb access another port than Quake does? Do I need to open another port?
By the way, thanks for taking the time to help me out fellas, I really appreciate it.

Have you tried manually downloading the .htm files from PB's site to update it? Its an uglier solution but maybe it will fix your problem. Here's the link.
