Man what a learning curve this game has - at least to me it does.
I am a complete noob at Q4 MP right now. I played for a short bit when I got the game, and got my ass handed to me on a per-second basis.
I don't understand how I got online as soon as the game came out, and there were people playing like they've had months to practice. People falling from legdes and railing me in mid-air, while I can barely see enemies clearly enough to hit them with RL splash damage.
I guess some people are just naturally fast at picking this sort of thing up, but I need a lot of practice before I will be worth a shit in a deathmatch.
This chunky gameplay is going to take some getting used to. I also can't wait until the community makes some maps that flow better and don't get in the way as much. I'm not used to massively thick columns and walls in MP maps anyway, and the added fact that the models are hard to see on most maps is really throwing me off right now. I know it will get better with a little time, but at this point I feel like a total Quake noob compared to most of the people I've played against.
How are you guys doing? Has anybody started getting used to the gameplay yet? Are any of you owning it up when you play online? Any other poor saps like me getting slaughtered spawn after spawn?
P.S. I think the worst part is that I know I'm not going to spend much time practicing the MP until after I finish the SP game, because I'm completely engrossed in it.
Are you any good at the MP yet?

Yea, that's my biggest put off about the game.
Yea, since I finally got the framerate to display, I think the 20fps in MP is what's destroying me the most right now.Fjoggs wrote:I'm pretty decent. The 20fps puts my rail to shame though.
However, all my new system gear just arrived this morning, so this weekend I will have a top-end rig to play on. I'm sure my aim will improve drastically when I have 60fps to play with.
