Anyone found that the 3rd CD has a reeeaally long load time?
I'm probably the only person in the world that hasnt installed a DVD player on there PC... so I had to get the CD version of Q4
I'm stuck with the 3rd disk at the point were the installer screen is showing the 2 strogg in red/orange shooting, with a cannon in the background. On the small installer screen it says it installing pak006.pk4.
The CD light is not flickering anymore, but the orange light by the power button is flickering a bit on and off.
I have tried to install this 3 times already and it just gets stuck at this point each time. Any suggetions as to whats going on?
should i just keep waiting?
If I copy the contents of each CD onto my hard-drive and then ran the installer do you think that would work? or would that be pointless?
any help would be greatly appreciated

Can you guys copy the game data direcly from the CDs to your game folder at all?
IE the \Setup\Data directory on the CDs is basically the Quake 4 folder, Just combind them and rename [Data] to [Quake 4]
Although it's about 200Megs larger on the DVD than it is installed. So that's odd. o_0
ehhh- try it anyway!

CD1 took a long time to load, the other three were fine. By the time I got to the second CD, my brother was up and running :icon33: . I think it is just a hardware issue.
edit: Yeah, I thought about the DVD version, but there were none available. At the EB I checked, they sent 20 CD versions and like 6 DVD versions(The guy at the desk was looking at the list of package contents when I stepped up).

POSSIBLE Fix (reposted from PlanetQuake, I have not tried it yet):
I got this to work, its not a defective disk
its' installshield fucking bug, where the engine is corrupted and or there is a problem where autorun.exe on disk 2 is making the installer choke on the last file on disk 2.
Follow those instructions re: disabling autoplay, holding LEFT SHIFT on disks 2-4 waiting until your CD rom light goes out completely before pressing OK for the next disk installation message.

I had a lot of trouble getting the 4th disk to recognize, it just kept telling me to install Disk 4 over and over when it wwas already in there, I have a cd-r and a dvd-rom and it was the same in both of them. i just kept switching it back and forth and finally it recognised and finished the install.
