I've Been HAD!

Post by Scarface »

Bought a XP 3200+ off ebay a couple weeks ago, and it has laser cuts on the L12 and L6 bridges! I decided fuck it and installed it anyways. It posts at 3200+ ( 2.2ghz ) with 400 mhz FSB hell, even under full load it doesn't go over 38C. So, i'm keeping it. Ah well, it was only a small upgrade to last me a year.

Prolly was advertised as a older core 3200, turned out to be a newer one with the bridges cut..

Ftw, you can fix those bridges with some Lead ink, pencil lead, or some lead based grease..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Iirc, they (AMD) did use laser-cutting to prevent overclocking on some cores/series.

i believe AMD has a thing where you can type in the serial code down there and it'll tell you what it originally was/is

Well my old one is...

If you write down the stepping (first line under the AMD Athlon bit on the black sticker) it would make it easier to determine what yours is. Can read it all

Edit:

if you see this one:

Image

you'll notice on the black bit:

AXDA3200..

Does your BIOS correctly state the same? ie all settings are set to default for CPU fsb and multiplier?
