Try making yourself a http://last.fm profile, helps a lot finding other good bands. (Hint: it is a media playerplugin tracking your played songs and then doing the usual "people who listened to... also liked..." thing, whit a community around it).

I already have one, but most of the music i listen to is metal, which is great for finding fellow metal lovers, but not so good at fulfilling my other tastes as well
