Doom 3 will look good, though, won't it?

edit:

Will I be able to get 60fps on q4 with no AA or shadows?

well except from a few hangs that are caused by my lack of memory, it has always 60 fps:
1024x768
video quality: medium
high quality special effects enabled
4x aa

haven't tried high quality, cuz it looked great.. but I'll do it some time :D

my system:
P4 2,66 ghz
512mb ddr
GF 6800 256mb GDDR3

I don't
<-2500+ @ 2800+
BFG GeForce 6600GT OC
2gb ram

And like I said before, even the 6600GT is being held back by my Athlon XP

I was planning on getting a Geforce 6800 soon, and adding another 512 stick of pc2700 ram...

Will my Athlon XP 2600+ be holding me back to where I won't be able to get constant 60fps @ High 1024x768 with eyecandy and 8x AA?
Your XP 2600+ will definatly be holding you back. I have almost the same setup (XP 2500+
,1gb ram, 6800 GT agp) and i get 60 in small areas but with loads of players it can dip to around 10 fps, and im only running 800x600 medium quality.

Not really, i use to have the same CPU as you before i upgrade and the change from 2500xp to 3500 64 bit is a hole new game...
I can't remember exactly, but just has a exemple, timedemo 1 on quake 3...i gain like more then 200 FPS just because i change my CPU, both timedemo where made with the same vid card...imagine !!!
The 64 bit CPU is a hole new generation, its completly different...

I don't see how some of you are pulling a "constant" 60 fps online with some of the systems listed here. Are you all saying it never dips below 60 fps? I'm on a 2 day old install of windows xp pro sp2 with the lastest bios updates and drivers. I don't have the fastest system A64 3000+, 1GB RAM (pc3200), 6600GT, even at 640x480 (with no AA or aniso)I can't pull no where near a constant 60 fps. That is with some serious cfg tweaking too.

I would think you need something atleast as fast as what the cpl is using for there Quake 4 Qualifier:

Intel Desktop Board D925XECV2
Intel Pentium 4 XE 3.46 GHz (1066 MHz FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 533
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT 256MB PCIe
2x80GB SATA Raid 0
Intel High Definition Audio
Microsoft Windows XP Professional

I'm not saying you need a Pentium CPU (I use an AMD CPU as my first post in this thread states) I said something at least as fast as the specs the CPL are using. I personally prefer AMD but I'd sure take a high end Intel CPU over what I'm using now if it was given to me as there is nothing wrong with them. I'm mostly talking to the people who replied saying they're pulling a constant 60 FPS (which is what the OP asked) with systems that are less or barely higher spec than mine.

Must be your vid card bro. Running asus mobo with amd athlon 64, geforce 6800gt and 1gig of ddr400.

I get at least 60fps and when I take screenshots while in game you can see I hit as high as 97:

Yeah I have a very hard time believing some of the people who have posted are getting a constant 60 FPS in situations such as a 10 person FFA Deathmatch, even at 800x600 Low Quality.

P4 2.4b, 1024 PC2700, x800XL and I dont get anything close to 60 FPS unless I'm staring at a corner.

Majority of those screens appear to be taken sitting alone in a map... or in a 1v1. I'd like to see some shots with several people on-screen at once in Multiplayer.

I get constant 50+ in single player, but when theres a lot going on in multiplayer (i.e. 5 or more player firefight) it dips to the 30s and 40s, sometimes lower.

Specs:
athlon 64 3200+ (OCed from 2.0ghz to 2.5 so probably equiv. to 4000+ ?)
ATI X8000 GTO2 (unlocked & OCed to X850XT)
1024 pc3200 ram

I would think its probably due to the ati graphics card. nVidia will always be superior for this engine :(

I get a constant 60 on ultra for the entire SP game, 1280x1024.

I get 60 most of the time in MP, however in Sandstorm it drops a bit. Dropping to HIGH instead keeps it locked at 60 and with hardly any visual difference.

AMD 3200 64bit CPU
2048meg DDR Ram
GeForce 6800 GT 256meg DDR (Overclocked to ultra)
Locked
