DVI to monitor signal noise

I'm getting a bit of fairly noticable artifacts on my LCD screen when connecting it to my computer with a DVI cable. Here's a close up photo - sorry for the ugly orange background, but it makes the green noise stand out more:

My video card has dual DVI connections and my monitor has DVI and VGA. I tried it with a VGA cable and a DVI to VGA adaptor and I don't get the same problem - only when I use a straight DVI to DVI cable. Tried plugging the DVI to both connectors on my video card without any luck.

I was under the impression that DVI cables aren't subjected to any outside interference. It's only a 3m (10') cable. DVI-D, dual link cable, BTW.

Do you think it's something wrong with the cable? Hopefully it's nothing wrong with the connectors on my monitor or video card.

you said its a Dual link cable, are you 100% sure on that? that would mean it would have four ends in total on it..

Anyway, have you tryed plugging it into another one of the DVI ports? also, Make sure the connection is Clean and tight to the videocard/monitor.

dual link would be 2

as in both ends of the cable have DVI

that would be called a DVI cable.

LCD's have DVI's/analog out right ?

whats the point of getting that cable then ?

no clue, maby to use both the analog and digital output of the DVI-I port, thus giving a picture to the digital source as well as a seperate Analog source.

DVI Single Link or DVI Dual Link?

DVI uses a digital information format called Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS). Single link cables use one TMDS transmitter, while dual link cables use two. A single link DVI connection can support a 1920 x 1080 image at 60fps. A dual link connection supports up to a 2048 x 1536 image.

The digital interface uses 24 of the possible 29 pins found on a DVI-I interconnect. A single link DVI cable would enable 12 of those 24 digital pins. A dual link configuration enables all 24. For audio/video applications a single link interconnect is the correct choice. The dual link configuration, while not improving performance on a single link system, will not hinder performance and is interchangeable in that application.

As mentioned above, I've already tried that. I still get those lines.
