I cant find the setting that stops the auto-switch of weapons.

And, I set the zoom for mouse 2 or 3, right click, but it doesnt work

Settings -> Game Options -> Auto weapon switch.

If not then your quake 4 is fucked

As for the other problem, not sure about that either.

The auto switch is located in the game options menu
in the config:
seta ui_autoSwitch "0"

Find the zoom bind in your config and fix it like this:
bind "MOUSE2" "_zoom"

Thanks for the quick response.

One more little thing. It shows that I do not have openAL. I just have onboard sound, which is actually not bad. Will getting an audigy card with openAL make a huge difference in my sound or just a little?

Possibly, yes. It will also reduce the amout of work your CPU has to do, thus increasing the games overall performance a bit. :icon14:

It's not a case of your card supporting OpenAL, it's OpenAL supporting your card.

Cards can implement extra ARB functions of OpenAL, but any card should be able to 'render' OpenAL sound.

What I'm saying is, this is not a reason to purchase a new card.

Is there a way to set a type of quickswitch key? That will switch between two weapons?

That doesnt really fit in with this thread, but yes. You can use the last weapon, next weapon found in the same place as the auto-switching of weapons I believe.

It won't be a huge difference.

Performance may be better if your CPU is the bottleneck on your system. OTOH, Creative products can sometimes be tempermental beasts and actually kill performance if the card is not in a particular slot that it 'wants' to be in. So, you may possibly have to play musical chairs with your PCI cards to get rid of stuttering/etc..

Onboard sound is quite fine if you're using a standard stereo headphone and it isn't a $200+ quality one.
