I can't wait to try this as I have an older card atm. FX 5500 OC. Don't have the game yet, but this sounds like a godsend as I don't imagine I'll get more than 20 or so fps. I hope it's allowed otherwise not much MP for me untill I upgrade next month.

I think someone said that you could play in Warmup mode with no problem, try that maybe?

Play a Tom Clancy game if you want shadows...this is Quake.

Oh yeah, that's a flawless argument you have there, 'alright'. :icon22:

How about: Play Quake 3 if you want low graphics detail. This is Quake 4.

The shadows tell you where the person is before you see them dumb ass. Which makes it a perfectly legal cheat.

Granted, Ive just starting playing, but I cant see how to change those commands. The tilde key does nothing, unlike Q3.

Do you have to edit the config file each time?

when i first got quake,i remember i played it on a 133mhz w/ 32mb ram. i had between 0-20 fps and a constant 999 ping. but i also remember loving it even tho the problems. ive played well over half a year on that setup, plenty too hehe.

Tried this, just makes everything pitch black apart from the lights. I played with r_singlelight (trying everything from -1, 0, 1, 10, 75), r_useSimpleInteraction, and r_lightDetailLevel 0/6/9. None of them resulted in anything I could actually use for playing, other than r_singlelight -1, the default.

Theres a "quick fix" by a person called dr4ch, he made a map pack of all the maps that come with the game and edited them to only have the singlelight mode, these will work online and there is no need for commands.
Remember though, just a quick fix, really do hope Raven/Random Modder can put forward a solution which is more convenient to us players :)

Yeah and that means you have to download custom maps, and autodownloading is fux0red right now. It would be best if Raven 'fixed' this officially in a patch. And you would avoid confusion with having 10 different maps of same kind.
