q4hexdm1 - Floating Death is FINAL! It's a 3 - 8(ish) player DM.

Good call. I was on last weekend playtesting this with the leveldesign/q4euro guys.

It makes a great FFA map due to the scale. You've fitted the size of the level to the weapons quite well. In some ways it reminds me of the deathstalker RA3 clan arena.

why does it look just like a q3 map?

To be honest, it looks worst than a Q3 map, and has like a 6th of Q3s FPS. But thats is the general problem with the d3e, as I feel it, if you are suppose to make a good looking map, you can't play it seriously in MP, and even if you have 60fps, that isn't enough I think.

Edit: That wasen't me saying that you are a bad mapper Hex, that was me saying that the d3e still sucks for serious mp maps that also has looks.

Edit 2.0: Ok, played the level a bit for myself. I get a ery good FPS with my rig, I didn't turn down my settings, but I got like 75 on some places and almost always around 60, I saw a drop to 50 one time. Settings were everything max (not ultra), 1600x1200, 16AF, me and my good buddies will probably try this one at the next lan, well atleast the one that has Q4. I still say it dosen't look that good, and that ugly raven sky, please replace it, looks awful, not exactly Jedi Knight Quality (which has much higher detail and res in its skies).

Do you mean because you recognize it, or because of its simplistic brushwork/texturework?

The brushwork borrowed heavily from a previously released Q3 map - q3hexdm4 - "Colorrific".

I wasn't going for detailed good looks here... and it was rushed out the door a bit. It was built to host a good FFA, and thats what it does. :)
