btw i stopped taking that SSRI stuff after a month. It didn't do much for me, only helped taking the edge off a little bit.
I feel fine now, I'm my old self again.

great stuff. for one horrible moment at the end i thought the evil black guy was going to join up with them but thankfully no. the explanation of the reavers was...interesting - but the thing with river didn't really make sense. the series gives the impression the alliance wanted her back because she was a weapon, a kind of jason bourne type character, but the movie suggested it was because of what she knew about miranda

I didn't think it was worth a thread, and this thread seemed as good as any.

Fox mucked up and canceled another great show that didn't deserve to die - Arrested Development.

yea i was a bit confused about that too - at one point the baddie says that he truly believes that the right thing is for river to die.

so i'm guessing the alliance wanted to kill her, not use her.

**SPOILER**

which is a change from the blue glove group who just want to take her back to the nut lab

and why are most of the bad guys in the series & movie played conspicuously by brits? 1776 was a long time ago. get over it, yanks

pardon the bump.

figured i should just bump this instead of starting the 10th firefly thread. anyway, after months (years?) of my lady friend suggesting i check it out, i finally did and i just finished watching the series on dvd. it was pretty amazing. i plan to watch the movie Serenity sometime soon. some thoughts--

* first episode was a bit ehhh IMO. it was fine but i'd probably say that, jaynestown and the bordello episodes were the only ones that were ehh decent, but not great. otherwise all the episodes were awesome.

* river was a bit annoying here and there. but overall shes alright.

* i wish there was a bit more of a grandeur (sp) feel of space. yeah, i sort of got how big their whole area is by the variety of people they met, but i wish we got some more shots of space in general just to emphasize how vast the whole thing is. i understand the directors wanted to focus in on how tight knit the whole group/ship thing is, but a few distant shots would have been nice IMO.

* the show reminds me a lot of cowboy bebop. except i find this a lot easier to watch than cowboy bebop.

i guess other than those things all my other observations are just that this show is pretty awesome. i'm looking foward to the movie. its a shame that fox butchered the tv series air schedule.

there was that one shot which did justice to this - when river and simon are hiding outside the ship and simon notices river having a transcendent moment. He then turns to the direction she's looking at and you see the vastness of space.

yup, i'm glad i got around to it too. i'm going to watch Battlestar Gallactica sometime. i'm not big on sci fi at all. in fact i despise it but this firefly stuff has got me curious about some of these shows i've missed.

yeah that shot was interesting. it was a nice moment.
