hey sorry for such a n00b question but can someone tell me the command to put in console to find fps etc? thankyou

that's /cg_drawFPS 1
damn case sensitive q3a

Even better, I have this. It turns it on and off at a press of a key. Bind whatever key you want.
bind F3 "toggle cg_drawfps"

As long as your toggling 0 or 1 as values.
