Yeah I mentioned the lighting / contrast issue. Its just a few hours in to it so it'll be tweaked. My fps are locked at the cap tho with my settings on high. No light overlapping at all. I'd love to get a cel shaded texture set to work with again, I'll have to make the best with what I've got available. Although I don't want it to look identical to the q3 version by the time Im done with it.

I think it looks sweet even with tweaks to go yet

It looks like some quality brushwork with consistent texturing but to me it doesn't look like a nice environment to play in (too 'sterile'). On the one hand everything is grey but on the other there are way too many contrasting horizontal and vertical bands... Imho all the contrasting bits in the Q4 textures is one of the reasons why everything is so hard on the eyes in Q4 (compared to Q3 which looks cleaner).

Yeah its been cleaned up quite a bit already since I posted those, Im only about 5-6 hours in. Its easier on the eyes.

Just got back from a very long vacation from the doom 3 editor, back and now in Q4. Been about 7 months, and when I left I wasn’t very good. So started a little 1v1 map to remind my self of the editor and just finished half of one room, but wanted to get some feedback on the textures. My worst area is texturing and getting everything to match and look right. So if you can critisize the screen below to your fullest extent I would be very grateful.

The only things I can see are lighting, and a few odd textures. That ramp at the bottom isn't doing much for you, open Q3dm1 and check out the steps there, and then add a clip brush over the steps so it doesn't mess movement up.

As for the lighting, try and use ambient for the whole level like it looks you have here, but then also place a single bright light in the center of this outdoor area to cast some nice shadows.

Updated a few things, and changed the horrible ground texture I had before to something more melow. Also made the whole map easier on the eyes.

*deleted 2 images of q4 VIA/D3W competition map*

also did some q3 stuff before q4 was released, given the lack of massive ammounts of time they're left as they are, for now. (they're rather large shots tho.., so ill just link them

Oversized industrial complex; (any speculation about scale size or whatever will be an understatement)

Wow, shots look epic.
But the layout seems to be too flat.

its less flat than it appears on those pictures, -Ive softly drawn underneath areas in red - but it might be a little bit too flat indeed. I'm doing my best trying to get the best height difference out of this setup

Are you sure you want to be publically showing that around if it's for the Q4 comp?

I abbandoned it for now, heh, it was too big and quite too linear, might make a dm map of it later - I already got a new layout in radiant atm ;]
