look at the torque/hp peaks -
5500 for torque, 7800 for hp? please, means you have to rev the shit outta it.
yeah being able to rev it up to 8000+ rpm is nice and all, but having the power at say 2000, much nicer.

His other point was that 'Americans are years behind' which is complete bullshit.
Note also his complete inability to do anything other than post some hp/torque numbers, without a clue as to why they're important. :olo:

Chevy has got some really neat technologies these days. Ever heard anything about their hydroforming process?
Anyways, stop thinking of 1980's Chryslers.

Well, the TVRs have their negative points including the engine starting method was prolly designed by an idiot (see below)

Jeremy Clarkson ala Topgear has this to say about them (He has actually driven them unlike most of the peeps on this forum)

"And that brings me neatly on to the new TVR Tuscan 2. This is the first of the cars launched since the company was bought by a 14-year-old Russian business-boy, and is said to be easier to drive, and easier to live with than any TVR ever.

Hmmm. It still doesn't have an airbag, or anti lock brakes, or any kind of traction control. In fact, the only safety feature is the ludicrous starting procedure which is so complicated, I can pretty much guarantee you'll never actually get it going. And a stationary, silent car is damn hard to crash."

and they apparently are not impressive at the topgear race track
Well, now we're getting into things about the cars that are much more subjective than engine tech, and in that respect, there are many points on which the RS4 has the Corvette beat.

Depends. It's hard to deny it if someone is giving me one for free. If I was chosing to buy, I'd definitely take either an Audi or a TVR over the Vette. Personal opinion, but I find Vettes repulsive to look at, and the last one I was in was quite dreary. I'm also not going through a mid-life crisis just yet. :p

You’re right. Looks like some fucking fat Texan who really likes long wedges of cheese designed it.

in fairness, jeremey clarkson also says this about the corvette

"if you want a plastic left hand drive car with vietnamese suspension, then here it is"

also on the top gear drag strip and 2 seperate laps the TVR beat the corvette by a time which is on the brighter side of 2 secs

Which TVR? The ones I've seen resemble hammered shit. Not to say that they're lacking in the performance department, I just don't care for the styling.

This whole Europe Vs USA and cars thing is stupid.

Fact A: The USA has made a ‘few’ nice cars. The latest of which have borrowed European ideas and technology.

Fact B: Europe has been pumping out the worlds best cars since the invention of the engine.

It’s a fact kids and I’m afraid you’re all going to have to live with it.

Now if it was upsetting other nations and eating burgers it would be a different story. You’d have Europe bang to rights on that one.

Ground_Zero wrote:LOL, I was going to post the LS7 specs but looks like all the gearheads beat me to it. Oh, and btw mr. euro, the new Z06 blows away everything at Nurburgring, including but not limited to:

a Mercedes SLR
a 996 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
a Lamborghini Murcielago
a Pagani Zonda C12S
a 996 Porsche 911 GT2
a BMW M3 CSL
a Lamborghini Gallardo
a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
a 996 Porsche 911 Turbo
a Manthey Porsche GT3
a Mosler MT900S Photon
a Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R
a McLaren F1

and it TIED the Porsche Carrera GT, a $600,000 supercar. OH, did I mention that Z06's are going off the lot AT STICKER PRICE for $65k, no markup? And this is on "The Ring", the type of racing environment that euro cars are built for. Nevermind the 1/4 mile track.....

To illustrate my point, here's what can be done with a corvette.

I'd love to see an audi smoke its tires on the dyno... :icon26:
i thought the road-legal car record was held by a radical SR8 - which was nearly 40 seconds quicker than the porsche you mentioned?

lol the only thing europe has left is volkswagon and a few other small companies, the rest have been bought out or went in the tank. When you see all those Vauxhall, Opel, and Saab's driving around Doombrain, think GM :olo:
