I probably could have got away with just upgrading the video card to a FX6800 256 Ultra AGPx8. But I wanted to go PCIE, so I had to change to the mobo. Since I changed the mobo, I thought it wouldn't be right if I didn't upgrade the CPU and RAM too. :icon25:

Yeah.. Unfortunately the AMD 64 4000+ has a locked clock speed multiplier and I'll have to use the FSB. That's why I bought the 550MHz DDR 4400 RAM. It should give me plenty of FSB range to O/C with.
make sure you keep ontop of the Hypertransport multiplyer..
also, i would like to add that overclocking any of the new AMD's is a diffrent world.. thus far 400mhz is the best i can yeald out of this cpu.. ( 3200+ 90nm core )
There's a guy with a Chaintech NV4 board and a winnie 3000 that's running at 2.7 ghz. Let me check...yes, here's his specs:
Chaintech VNF4 Ultra (Beta BIOS) @ 300HTT
A64 3000+ Week 44 Winchester @ 2.7GHZ
4 x 512MB Kingston HyperX 3200 DDR
Gigabyte 6600GT @ 570MHZ (Mem @ 1.21GHZ)
2 x WD SATA 7200 RPM 120GB 8MB Cache HDD's in RAID 0
impressive - there another guy on the site running a 3200 at 2.7, too. He's on watercooling, the first guy is on aircooling.
