"TAMPA, Florida (Reuters) - Debra LaFave, a former Florida school teacher, pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex with a 14-year-old male student and was sentenced to 10 years of community control and probation.
LaFave, 25, pleaded guilty to committing two counts of lewd and lascivious battery on the Greco Middle School student.
LaFave could have been sentenced to 30 years or more in prison if she had been convicted in a trial, which had been scheduled to begin next month in Tampa."

Still though, this just doesn't seem right. Can you imagine what would happen if a 25 year old male teacher slept with a 14 year old student? He'd probably be executed. lol
That's why they accepted the plea bargain. They knew if they went to trial, they'd never be able to convince the jury that this 14-year-old with a wet spot in the front of his pants was ever traumatized in the slightest.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my client has been assaulted in...... Dammit boy, put your hands on TOP of the table!"
lol, in the 14th century this would have been called a rite of passage. all the other peasants would be slapping the kid on the shoulder and offering him turnips and saying "thou be a manne nowe, sonne"
