Not trying to pick a fight here about the box jumping vs double jumping I was just trying to bring something to light for you.

There was a thread on esreality about this box jumping/double jumping subject no too long ago. Check it out. It was always called double jumping back in the days of Q2. Don't know where the box jumping name came from. There's some detailed information in the posts you may want to look at that descibe what the physics bug is that causes double jumping to be present.

Anyway, call it whatever you want. It's your mod! The double jumping you're thinking of is in UT which came after Q2.

No one is thinking of ut. That is absolutely wrong. When he says double jump he means standing next to a crate and hitting the spacebar twice, so that you go ultra high in the second jump. When he says box jumping he means mashing the spacebar while climbing a diagonal stack of crateswith intense speed and flying off the end, which seems to me to be a combination of double jumping and ramp jumping, but it is of course impossible to do now for the same reason you can't strafe jump on stairs. The first thing we should do in this area is fix the strafejumping on stairs issue.

as you can see, stairjumping and doublejumping (or whatever its called now) work.
its just one line of code.. theres just a bug that makes the game
unplayable with this setting, but when thats fixed, it'll be fun :D

No. The double jump stems from Q2. The closest thing in QW are the ramp jumps.
