Annoying Azureus/Media Player Problem

Post by mik0rs »

Don't know if anyone can help with this but I'll give it a go. It might just be one of those odd problems that comes up one in a million times.

I've got Azureus installed along with the latest JRE, if I try to start Media Player when Azureus is running it won't display a picture, so I have to kill Azureus before I watch anything, likewise if I start Azureus during anything the picture fucks up and disappears pretty quickly, but shutting down Azureus while Media Player is running makes everything freeze right up until I can get into Task Manager and kill it like that.

Any ideas on how to get them running at the same time without any problems? I never had this happen before when I had them both installed and I was wondering if there was anything I should avoid doing when installing either of these. Of course I've tried reinstalling both and the problem's not going away.

you say you had them installed before ..could it be that azerus was not fully un-installed and left over files are present.

try uninstall az then delete the folder ,run a reg cleaner http://www.jv16.org ..reboot re-install

you may also try this on java client

i never had this problem before myself

Sorry, wasn't clear, both of these were the first installs of Azureus and WMP when I started having the problem, since noticing it I've tried reinstalling both and it's the same, I'll have a bash at RegCleaner for WMP though, I might put an old version on if that's at all possible now.

Foo's suggested to me it might be some dodgy DRM stuff, which would make sense giving that these are completely unrelated programs.

Edit: Thanks btw :)

Tried cleaning the registry out by just blasting the invalid entries shown (I couldn't be bothered cherry picking so I lost my homepage and things, lol, never mind), something pretty dubious has been installed on here I think, I'm tempted to believe it IS some DRM type program.

When I load up Azureus the screen flickers off and back on for a split second, it must be switching into a slightly differenct video mode that stops Media Player (MS and Classic) from placing the video overlay on the screen properly. It doesn't however affect Power DVD.

Very, very dodgy stuff.

You've run MS Antispyware and Spybot right? Run F-Secure's rootkit detector as well if you think your system is compromised.

I was wrong, no DRM shit, paranoia kicked in. I'd ust checked the registry for $sys$ entries and found nada, I've not put any Sony CDs on here so it's not likely to be that, but cheers for the link. I'll grab it anyway.

I'd just like to state that Foo is a legend, he had a hunch that my FSAA being set to on might be the problem when I started Azureus (which I guess makes the JRE kick in which could cause FSAA to the kick in, not so certain on that though), nonetheless his suggestion of turning it off sorted it out. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers for posting guys :icon14:
