So where the hell were those UAC crates?

Post by o'dium »

The texture is in the game, and Willits said the game was full of easter eggs like UAC crates and stuff like that...

Well so far I have yet to find ANYTHING interesting like this...

Can anybody help me out here?

"He believes that in gaming AI and physics have been cutting edge, but graphically he can still not do what he wants to improve the gameplay experience. "

Am I alone in seeing that as a very wrong statement? I dont even care about AI but Doom3 didnt really blow me away when it came to SP because the monsters just werent entertaining, it was a nice technology demo though.

But to say that physics have less of an impact then graphics, well, I think we should all see that as flawed...

Physics can equal gameplay more than graphics can. Thats why HL2 was more fun than Doom, because it had a few nice physic gameplay elements involved.

TBH, id software have lost the plot as late. People asked if the monsters could see you in the shadows (a simple trick) and if they had good AI, and they simply replied by saying "they are demons of hell, they can see in the dark" and "they are zombies, they dont need good AI.

Then it comes out and gets slammed, and Quake 4 comes along...

All of a sudden... BAM. They are no longer demons, they are robots who should have good AI. But they are as dumb as ever and can STILL see you in shadows.

Same with water. Same with physics. Hell same even with the entire single player game.

id software no longer impress, because they fail to do anything other than pump up the graphics... Baaaaaaaaad bad choice.

Definitly. When graphics = gameplay at the top level what can we expect really...

Well, i'm at ~3/4th of the Q4 SP now and i must say those monsters are ferocious at the highest difficulty level. I'm a SP die-hard but theys cyborgs (not robots!) kill! I also find that they often do a side jump exactly at the right moment. They don't move much when they're firing at you though.
