Cant join servers.

I cant join 90% of servers because I have files missing. What these files are I have no idea because it doesnt tell me. I know that the servers are running xbattle 0.05 and the drach maps, I have both of these.

Is this just happening to me or what? Is it beacuse of the new patch or what?

hmm server downloading is broke atm - and given the pure server flag its neccessary to have all the pk4's that the server has in order to connect. There is a url redirect that server admins could use in their cfg's to point people without the neccessary files to a url that would then link them for download, However this seems to be little used.

So in short the problem is id's first (auto download broke) - then the server admins second (there is a work-round, its just not implemented)

Now as far as x-battle is concerned, you'll need the correct version the server has (backwards compatability was broke iirc)
The drach FPS maps come in 2 flavours, DM and CTF - theres also a new CTF version floating about ( see req's post http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13991 )

X-battle and drach fps mappack are linked from jolt's q4 site (use the sidebar to link to the downloads section) http://www.q4.jolt.co.uk/

It pays to download everything you can get your hands on atm, as it sems theres no way of knowing exactly what is on what servers.
I was a little disappointed that this bug was not fixed in the first pr

edit : I cannot remember if the jolt downloads are europe only, SO here are some links for fps mas and x-battle (just in case)

Thanks for the info kleeks. Funny enough I do get a URL about 50% of th time but I have downloaded all the files from each ftp and I still get the missing pk file message.

I REALLY dont know why this wasnt fixed if theres a known problem.

if you cant join, its because you dont have EXACTLY whats uploaded to the server. be it one map or 3 maps or even a mod.

although you're a bit shy on ctf maps, have a look for some on http://quake4.filefront.com/ - its trooly a magnificent q4 repository (damn ads though :/)

ya not having that fixed in the first patch is really inexcusable.
