Crouch sliding.

Post by jester! »

One of the things Q4 brings to the series is the crouch slide, it hasnt really be used by Raven much in the stock maps afaik the small stair to YA jump on the edge is the coolest use of it.

I am wondering about this though.

"Every player has a crouchSlideTime variable which is refilled when you re in the air, going down, and NOT pressing duck.

this timer can go up to 2000 milliseconds = 2 seconds of slide.
When landing a jump, and pressing crouch, you will start to slide, the slidetime will be decreased until it reaches 0.

The timer is also reseted by jumps. However , if you touch a bump, your timer isnt reseted, so if you wana stack crouch slide time, in q4dm8 for example (dm17), jump a few times on a bump and then try to slide for a long time "

It was posted on overdrivepc, a link is in runningmans q4 maps thread in the trick jumping forum for q4, I dont want to bother registering, so can anyone tell me what they are talking about?

Sounds like they want to build up the amount of time they can slide, by doing a lot of falling while hitting occasional bumps.

It doesn't sound like it would work that way to me, since they just stated that the timer has a hardcoded maximum time of 2 seconds.

What do they mean by 'bumps'?

# A raised or rounded spot; a bulge.
# A slight swelling or lump

hrhr my map has lumps :-o

Interesting bit about the timer though so if i understand it right, the best slide length is obtained by hitting and holding crouch at the last millisecond before landing from your strafe jump.
