A nine-hour queue in the cold and wet is just the thing to bring out the British spirit - where else can you make 100 new friends, and then beat the hell out of them.

I'd have loved to have gone to Asda and just bought all 4 that they had in. Be fucked am I queuing for a console though. The last thing I queued more than an hour for was to get into a student union party. Fucking great it was too, getting pissed at 11am is always win.
'three custom IBM 3.2GHz core processors ' so the 360 is actually
running at 9.6 ghz?
Amazes me that people will queue up from 3pm to midnight for a fucking console instead of biding their time until it's been out a while and then just go into a shop anytime and buy one. It's not like there aren't enough games to play on a pc or that buying pcs are that expensive these days.

i dont think you can just add it up like that.
also you cant just go into a store and buy one anytime. i think you can only do that if you pre-ordered way, way, way in advance. even people who preordered weren't guaranteed to get one even thought they thought they would. stores just didnt get as many boxes as they expected.
and thats only for pre-order places. if you want to go into any old shop and get one, theres no chance. you have to wait in line from the beginning.
i do agree that there are other games out there to place though.
edit: missed the part where you said after its been out for a while. doh.

i'd like to see proof of a %20 discount. afaik, no retailer's employees got ANY discount. why should they when MS is already losing money on it?
Then maybe he didn't. Everything else he's bought from work has had 20% off, so naturally he assumed this would. I haven't spoken to him for a couple of days so I don't know if he's even got it yet.
Seeing as most of the starting lineup either has framerate issues or is already available in a pretty similar version for xbox and ps2, I'm surprised anyone's getting excited.
Blockbuster employees don't get any discounts on hardware at all. They get 10 free rentals a week, access to films (to watch) a week prior to release, and 20% off all purchases that aren't hardware.

You can't add speeds up like that -- a much better way of thinking about it would be that each processor is a car running at a speed of 3.2GHz: they can do three times as much work, but at the same speed as a single car.
