What's better? The PSP or the DS?

Post by Jackal »

I'm thinking of getting one or the other but I'm rather torn. So what's better? Both in terms of games and the actual hardware?
PS- I don't give a shit about movies.

If you don't give a shit about movies then go with the DS. No doubt.

See, I've honestly been leaning towards the DS but there's a couple things that perk me up concerning the PSP.
I'd like to play MGA, GTA, and Infected. However, I'm a big handheld RPG guy and I've noticed that PSP barely has any.

Not to mention the DS has free online gaming. If you like RPGs I'm sure there are upcoming titles that will suit you to a tee. Not to mention Animal Crossing WW which is going to kick all kinds of ass.

Never used a DS, but the PSP seems very very nice. Plus, it makes it easier to hijack peoples wireless connections :ninja:

The DS doesn't have the fancy extras. But lets face it, do you REALLY need another MP3 player thats retarded expensive and has the battery life of a gamegear?

The PSP has nice graphics, and... Erm... Well it comes in two colours...?

The DS is shear class, its different, and the graphics arn't THAT bad, just not up to the level of a PSP. The DS has more than its fair share of "must own" titles compared to the PSP which has Ridge Racer, GTA, and... Erm... That little mini game in Ridge Racer...?

A rotting carcass that has been sitting out in the sun for 2 weeks is better than the PS2.

i have the psp, and i've been wishing i could play a few of the ds games.
right now there are very few psp games i am anxious to play.

that might change with the psp gran turismo.

Do you fancy playing old snes and genesis, scumvm (old lucasarts games), nes, gba etc. on a psp?

If not then get a ds. It's about 50% cheaper and the games aren't too shabby on it.

i am completely inept at figuring out how to find any of that stuff and install it. i never figured out where to find any movies using torrent..the ones i did find woudl have taken 5 days to download at the shitty transfer rates, so I pretty much figured I'd have the same problems in finding any working roms or whatnot for my psp (i haven't searched though).

I'd LOVE to play old roms on the psp.

This is exactly the sort of thing I wanted to hear. Thanks TNF. I'm definately leaning towards the DS now.

i think its a classic issue of core gameplay vs. bells and whistles and pretty graphics.

while there are some definite shitty games for both units, I think many of the DS games are just more fun than many of the PSP games.

I have to agree about the EMU stuff for the PSP. Thats jsut shea\r class. I can only hope Ninty will add something a bit more advanced for the next portable. I'm hoping for pretty much a portable game cube that can link up to your PC with the same basic media functions as the PSP.

Hahaha yeah sure it is. The PS2 has only just got RE4 for fucks sake, we've had it for over a year. Not to mention we still have Twilight Princess to look forward to along with a fuck ton of other titles.

I was talking spec wise. The Gamecube is a lot faster and can pump out more visuals than the PS2. Games wise, the shit to great ratio is also better on a gamecube. The problem with the cube is that there are just not enough mainstream accepted games for todays UK market. It sells fantastic in Japan, because thats what they want. Over here, kids would rather play with pimped up rides and drug deals than plumbers who jump or crazy go-karts.

Just because the cube doesn't sell amazingly well in the UK does not make it a failure worldwide.
