Suggest to me a $<1000 laptop
pushing it i know, but it's not for me, it's for my bro's Christmas present. gaming? no. everyday stuff, yeah. yes there are places like notebookreview.com, but i would like some of your opinions also. if you're going to suggest a model, i would like one with wxga. 512mb would be nice, but not a necessity (can upgrade later)
thx.
thx.

I used to swear by them, but I will never buy anything from Dell again (long story) :icon13:
Another vendor you can check out is http://www.powernotebooks.com/
They're relatively cheap, and they've had the highest ratings on http://www.resellerratings.com/ for the longest time (almost too good to be true). Depending on how you configure it, some of their 15.4" WXGA screen laptops are under $1000.
Personally I've been thinking about picking up a Sager NP5720 from them (a bit too expensive though)

Yeah I noticed all those fans and vents. However, the model I want comes with a Pentium M, so it should run a bit cooler. How long is "not long?" If it can last me 3 or 4 years, I think that's long enough :icon32:Foo wrote:The Sager's run **HOT**, hence don't last too long.
Alienware repackage sager units I think.
For the configuration I want, I find that vendors such as Alienware or Dell are generally a lot more expensive :icon13:
Make sure that if you get a Dell, use a coupon. I got a 40% off coupon with mine. Check gottadeal.com+JuggerNaut+ wrote:yeah, my corp is strictly dell and they've been very solid. just would have liked some other opinions (acer, hp, tosh perhaps).dmmh wrote:get yourself a Dell, cheap and solid (y)
