The last film I watched was Green Street, which i'll give a hearty 8/10. Good action.
However, I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned as I couldn't be arsed to read though the 37 pages of this topic, but I'd like to draw people's attention to Ong-Bak. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you get it on dvd. It's probably the most amazing combination of martial arts with gymnastics you'll ever see.
Definately a 9.9/10

I just finished watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind (for the first time) and I must say I don't have the faintest idea what all the fuss was about.
I like Spielberg as much as the next guy, but audiences in the 70s must have simply been wowed by the UFO special effects, because the plotting was haphazard (and often unintelligible), the pacing was terrible, none of the characters were particularly sympathetic or endearing, yada yada yada.
In short, I just didn't see a whole lot to like about it. Even Duel was better than this, and SS made it what, six years earlier? I'll stick with Jaws and Jurassic Park though, Close Encounters did not impress or entertain me.

props to scourge for reminding what this movie was called :icon14:
On a side note, why do morons insist on bringing small children to 3+ hour long movies that are as violent as KingKong. I had to tell one guy to shut his kids up twice (and other people also had to do the same) and I saw another group continually tell another set of "parents" to shut their 4 year old son up.
"Look! Look it's a scorpion! SCORPIONS HAVE THINGS ON THERE TAILS!! WHAY ARE THEY SHOOTING THE MONKEY?! IT SAVED HER!! NOOO!!!!"

Lol, if I wasn't under the impression you were in North America (Canada?) I'd have thought you were the bloke that stood up near the end and shouted "For God's sake SHUT UP" at some kids who'd been talking (not even whispering) for the entire 3 hours. Funnily enough they stopped after that.
And they seemed young so I think they had their parents bring them, why they didn't shut them up I'll never know.

The best (worst) was near the end with Kong freaking out while looking for the actress in the city. The camera goes to a backlit shot of her walking up the center of the road, lights shining like she's an angel, beautiful music then directly to my right "LOOK! ITS HER!"
"NO FUCKING KIDDING ITS HER!!!!!"
"NO FUCKING KIDDING ITS HER!!!!!"

The Staircase: 8.5/10 An 8 episode documentary that you can grab on a 2-DVD set for less than the price of a (fatboy American)lunch.
I'm tired so I just quoted that. It didn't leave me 'gasping for breath' (whatever the fuck that meansin this context) but you won't be able to stop watching once you start, so set aside 384 minutes and surrender to the Staircase.....real-life thriller follows the high-profile murder trial of North Carolina author Michael Peterson, who was arraigned in 2001 for theimurder of his wife after her body was discovered lying in a pool of blood on the stairway of the couple's home. Did Kathleen Peterson fall down the stairs, or was it cold-blooded murder? As the mystery unravels, de Lestrade's cameras are granted unusual access to Peterson's lawyers, home, and immediate family, resulting in a gripping, inside look at a case so shocking, it is sure to leave you gasping for breath.
