I was thinking about this earlier. I'm thinking about testing some of the larger CTF maps and set the player limit to something large like 20+ just to see how our server/the game would handle it.
The problem is, I'd need to get quite a few people on there just to see what would happen.
It would be fully FFA (Or would you guys prefer TDM?). I'm wondering if the engine/our server could handle that many people seeing as how the larger maps would spread the action out a bit more.
What do you guys think? Would anyone be willing to test this out with me some time? I'd need quite a few people.

Sure, I will be looking to play CTF on UZA. Sounds good.
The UZA Q4 sever works great, I recommend that all check it out.

I prefer CTF as the game type. This includes the variations of CTF.
Most of the folks I play Q3 with also prefer CTF.
FFA is the game I prefer in Q4 at the moment, because I am still getting my sea legs, and adjusting my config and such.
FFA is the best game for getting started.
I note that on GameCloud servers:

the most popular game type is Tourney. Easy enough to vote CTF or FFA though.
Tourney is the worst choice for beginners. At this point in Q4, most players are beginners, I assume.
However, since game type voting and map voting are working quite well in Q4 multiplayer, the server admin's choice of default game type is not that important.
The real impediment to finding Q4 servers is finding the Q4 servers.
All Seeing Eye does not list the UZA server nor does ASE list any of the eight GameCloud servers.
The in-game browser does not list any of these either, the last time I checked.
Only by adding the server IP address explicitly to ASE, am I able to browse to these servers.
Players just don't know that these servers exist.
Until the Server Browser issue is resolved ( followed by the "all maps or no connect" issue), server usage will be driven by players passing IP addresses to one another.

Thanks for the response Sturm and I appreciate your compliments on our server. I try to keep things new and interesting by adding new maps when new GOOD maps are available, but in reality, I consider this server a "Freak learning to properly Admin" testbed until the auto downloads and redirect are working. Once that happens, we MIGHT end up with a server for all modes. I haven't decided yet. We'll definitely have agood CTF server though with custom maps. I'm doing the best that I can as far as getting the maps out to people by having the game redirect to our website so they can download them, but that's still a bit of a pain.
Hopefully the patch will be out soon and end all of our problems!

large-ish ctf games can be fun without-a-doubt...
large ffa games are nothing more than spamfests and spawn/tele frags...(and with the currently loud mg sound... deafening aswell)
I stopped playing q3 for a long time because I couldnt find any ffa servers that didnt have 20-25+ people on maps meant for no more than 8-10. even now every q3 server has way too many people on them.
it takes no skill to win a game when you spawn/tele kill 8 people as soon as the game starts.
q4 has had those servers from day one, with 16 people on them...and theres been nothing but complaints of lag and too many people all the time.
if youre honestly seeking advice...dont do it.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll walk away from this idea.
I'm just trying to think of some niche that will help our server gain some popularity. We pay high dollar for a NICE server and connection (All covered due to the popularity of our CoD servers) so really, it's the gamer that's missing out.
